| Welcome To Calliope |
 |
 |
Calliope (kuh-lahy-uh-pee) is the New Haven area's only performance based
singing group for boys and girls. Children learn a variety of types of music in
weekly classes and meet and interact with other children in their community who share
their interests. Not only does Calliope provide experience in vocal technique, musicality,
dance, and acting, it helps children gain valuable experience performing. Children
involved in performance based activities learn self-confidence, teamwork, and individual
discipline.

 |
| How does it work? |
| Your child will meet for an hour each week in a class
divided by age. In each class your child will learn vocal technique, basic music
theory, and new songs for performances. They will also learn various dances and movement
that accompany the songs they sing. All of the classes prepare the children for their
performances at the end of the session. There are typically 2-3 performances per
session. Most performances take place at various locations in the
community. Past performance locations have included retirement homes, churches,
schools, and parties. Performances are an integral part of the program as they allow
children the opportunity to gain confidence in themselves and a venue to express
themselves. Performances also give Calliope an opportunity to enrich our community
by sharing our talents.
